Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival | Lietuvių Tautinių Šokių Šventė 2022
The 16th Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival, “The Kings’ Tale”, was held in Philadelphia, PA during the July 1-3rd, 2022 weekend. The excitement of this festival in conjunction with the city’s historic sights culminated with a colorful and dynamic show featuring some 2,000 dancers creating a magical symphony of Lithuanian folk dance, costume design and historic culture storytelling.
Nearly 10,000 people from around the world gathered for the Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival in historic Philadelphia.
Gitanas Nausėda, President of Lithuania, opened the festivities and along with First Lady Diana Nausėdiene, enjoyed the performances.
Lithuania's First Lady Visits the Lithuanian Cultural Center of Philadelphia
In 2019, First Lady of Lithuania Diana Nausėdienė visited the Lithuanian Cultural Center of Philadelphia. The First Lady toured the museum and library with members of the Lithuanian Cultural Center Board of Directors. She also addressed teachers from Lithuanian heritage language programs (Lituanistinės mokyklos).
President Gitanas Nausėda and the First Lady were in Philadelphia to attend XVI Lietuvių Tautinių Šokių Šventė, the first time that a Lithuanian President attended an American-Lithuanian national folk dance festival.
Domantis Sabonis Plays in Philly
Domantis Sabonis and the Sacramento Kings played the Sixers on December 13, 2022. Before the game, Domas met with the Philadelphia Lithuanian community. Šaunuolis!
